RésuméFerdinand Larnaude, grand juriste républicain et doyen de la faculté de droit de Paris, eut un rôle important en tant que « délégué technique » dans différentes commissions de la conférence de la Paix de 1919, spécialement dans la commission des Responsabilités des auteurs de la guerre. Il utilisa son expertise juridique comme moyen pour négocier d’égal à égal avec des chefs d’État comme Wilson dans la commission de la Société des Nations. Mu par une indéniable confiance dans l’idéal de la « paix du Droit », dans une rénovation du droit international, il n’en était pas moins un patriote suivant les instructions de son gouvernement et hostile à l’ancien ennemi allemand.

Ferdinand Larnaude, a « technical delegate » at the Peace Conference of 1919 between expertise and « war culture »Ferdinand Larnaude, famous Republican lawyer and Dean of the Paris Faculty of Law, held an important office as a « technical delegate » in different commissions of the Peace Conference of 1919, notably in the commission for the responsibility of the authors of the war. He used his legal expertise as a means to negotiate as an equal with heads of state such as Wilson in the League of Nations commission. Prompted by an unquestionable faith in the ideal of « Peace through Law », in the overhaul of international law he was no less a patriot following the instructions of his government and hostile to the former German enemy.
