Mais à la diplomatie idéaliste des premières années de l’AKP au pouvoir succède aujourd’hui une démarche beaucoup plus pragmatique qui voit ce pays défendre sans concession ses intérêts, en tirant parti d’alliances complexes et contradictoires ou, le cas échéant, en recourant carrément à des interventions militaires.

Following a long period of being distanced from its regional environment, over the past two decades Turkey has continuously invested in it. But the idealistic diplomacy of the early years of the ruling AKP is now giving way to a far more pragmatic approach – one that sees the country defending its interests without concession, taking advantage of complex and contradictory alliances and even, where necessary, resorting to outright military intervention.
