La mémoire d’Albert le Grand a souffert d’une grande réputation d’alchimiste largement usurpée. Cette légende fut combattue dès le xve siècle par des historiens de l’ordre dominicain. Malgré tout, il se constitua au xive siècle (et après) un corpus de textes alchimiques revendiquant sa paternité. Dans un premier temps, nous tentons d’établir les idées et l’apport d’Albert à la question de l’alchimie. Puis, nous étudions les principaux traités alchimiques qui lui ont été attribués. Nous constatons dès lors la grande influence du De mineralibus sur la plupart des textes du corpus, à l’exception des recettes étrangères aux idées albertiniennes.

The memory of Albert the Great has suffered from a great reputation as an alchemist widely misused. This legend was fought from the fifteenth century by historians of the Dominican order. Still, there arose in the fourteenth century (and after) a body of alchemical texts attributed to him. First, we try to establish the ideas and contributions of Albert to the question of alchemy. Then, we study the major alchemical treatises that have been ascribed to him. After what we establish the influence of De mineralibus on most of these texts, with the exception of receipts foreign to the ideas of Albert.

RiassuntoDopo la morte di Alberto Magno, comincia a diffondersi la leggenda, totalmente infondata, della sua grande reputazione di alchimista. Tale leggenda fu combattuta sin dal XV secolo dagli storici dell’ordine domenicano. A partire dal XIV secolo comincia a costituirsi un corpus di testi alchemici attribuiti a Alberto. Nel presente contributo, dopo aver stabilito qual è l’apporto di Alberto alla questione dell’alchimia, si studiano le dottrine dei principali testi alchemici attribuitigli. L’influenza del De mineralibus sulla maggior parte dei testi del corpus pseudepigrafico è manifesta, eccezion fatta per le ricette estranee al pensiero di Alberto.
