This paper aims to point out Bolivar Echeverria´s relevant concepts taken from Critical Marxism in order to question several concepts in Political Philosophy and rethink them. For example, one concept of interest is the State, among concepts regarding political institutions. What motivates this paper´s argument is the task of rethinking and revisiting the query for defining the social institutions. Although this paper´s main points do not deal with proposing a new structure of social institutions, it does address how the history of thought about modernity, identity and Whiteness could help us to question the concept of State. And in doing so, it helps us also to reconsider the State as the social institution where society finds social cohesion.

En el presente texto intento mostrar elementos relevantes que Bolívar Echeverría toma del marxismo crítico para reflexionar sobre conceptos de la filosofía política como, por ejemplo, el Estado. La motivación de este texto es abordar las definiciones de instituciones que nos permitan pensar nuestras relaciones sociales. Si bien no propongo aquí una nueva institucionalidad, consideraré cómo los conceptos elaborados por Echeverría de modernidad, identidad y blanquitud nos permiten criticar el concepto de Estado y su alcance como la institución bajo la cual se pretende encontrar algo de cohesión social.
