Comment comprendre l’insertion du cantique de Syméon dans les deux premiers chapitres de l’Évangile de Luc ? Cette contribution examine la stratégie littéraire de l’auteur du troisième évangile à travers la place qu’il accorde au Nunc Dimittis dans le récit de l’enfance de Jésus. En s’appuyant sur les données des livres de l’Ancien Testament (Ézéchiel, Baruch, Aggée et Siracide), l’enquête philologique qui y est menée tente de cerner la signification que Luc donne au cantique en étudiant le lien entre les paroles de l’hymne, le personnage qui les prononce et le lieu où elles sont prononcées, le Temple.

How can we understand the insertion of the song of Simeon in the first two chapters of the Gospel of Luke? This contribution examines the literary strategy of the author of the third gospel through the place he gives to the Nunc Dimittis in the story of Jesus’ childhood. Based on data from books of the Old Testament (Ezekiel, Baruch, Haggai and Sirach), the philological investigation carried out attempts to understand the meaning that Luke gives to the song by studying the link between the words of the hymn, the one who pronounces them and the place where they are pronounced, the Temple.
