This article considers the care perspective, and more particularly that of the “French school” of care as it has developed since 2005 within the larger field of feminist theories. It discusses the marginal place that for a long time those theories ascribed to the feelings and actions that are considered as “women’s business” belonging to the private sphere. The author notes the difficulty of translating into French the English expression “care”, and emphasizes the need to turn our attention to a new member of the proletariat, the care worker who is often a woman and a migrant. She goes on to develop the connections between care work and ethics, and draws conclusions about what is not really care work at all, with reference to certain sales techniques. The article as a whole insists on the political and critical dimension of care.

Este artículo sitúa la perspectiva de los cuidados, y más particularmente el de la “escuela francesa del cuidado”, tal y como se desarrolló desde 2005, en el campo más amplio de las teorías feministas. Discute el lugar marginal que se ha otorgado durante mucho tiempo a la cuestión de los afectos y a la feminización y relegación del cuidado al ámbito privado. La autora discute la dificultad de traducir esta palabra en inglés y subraya la importancia de una “perspectiva” orientada hacia una nueva figura del proletariado: los trabajadores del cuidado, a menudo mujeres y migrantes. Posteriormente desarrolla las articulaciones entre trabajo y ética, para concluir analizando lo que no es cuidado, esto es, ciertas técnicas de venta. El artículo insiste en la dimensión crítica y política del cuidado.
