La culture judéo-chrétienne poussant l’homme à se méfier de sa créature, la question se pose de savoir comment le protéger contre les robots. Cette protection passe tout d’abord par les règles juridiques susceptibles de s’appliquer en robotique. Aujourd’hui, nous disposons d’un certain nombre d’outils juridiques qui permettent d’ores et déjà de protéger l’homme contre les dangers pour sa santé ou sa sécurité que le robot pourrait présenter. Toutefois, les progrès de la robotique auront une influence considérable sur l’homme et la société. Ainsi, l’examen de la protection de l’homme contre le robot ne saurait évincer la question portant sur les risques éthiques de la machine, pour lesquels le législateur pourrait être beaucoup moins préparé.

Judeo-Christian culture encourages mankind to be wary of its creature, therefore the question of how to protect man from robots must be raised. This protection is made first of all by the legal rules that may apply in robotics. Today, we have a number of legal tools that already enables us to protect the human being from the hazards to his health or safety that a robot could cause. However, the improvements in robotics will have considerable influence on humans and society. Thus scrutinizing the protection of man against robot can not eliminate the question of the ethical risks that the machine could present, for which the legislator could be much less prepared.
