Le Hors phénomène consiste en ceci que ce n’est pas seulement l’horizon de l’existence qui se trouve bouché mais la possibilité même d’ouvrir un horizon qui est compromise. Il ne renvoie pas à une certaine apparition qui, aussi violente soit-elle, suppose toujours le champ de l’apparaître, mais bien à un ébranlement de la possibilité même d’apparaître : à une phénoménologie de la nuit, qui étend la phénoménalité jusqu’à l’inapparaissant ou au neutre, il faudrait opposer une nuit de la phénoménologie. La question qui se pose alors est la suivante : de cette nuit de la phénoménologie, y a-t-il encore une phénoménologie ou ne signifie-t-elle pas plutôt une sortie pure et simple de la phénoménologie ? En répondant par l’affirmative, en faisant une phénoménologie du Hors phénomène, ne court-on pas le risque d’ouvrir à nouveau l’horizon dont le Hors phénomène est la dénonciation en acte ?

The Outside Phenomenon consists in the fact that it is not only the horizon of existence that is blocked but the very possibility of opening a horizon that is compromised. It does not refer to a certain appearance, which, however violent, always presupposes the field of appearing, but rather to a shattering of the very possibility of appearing: to a phenomenology of the night, which extends phenomenality to the unappearing or the neutral, we should oppose a night of phenomenology. The question that then arises is the following: of this night of phenomenology, is there still a phenomenology or does it not rather mean a pure and simple exit from phenomenology? By answering in the affirmative, by making a phenomenology of the Outside Phenomenon, do we not run the risk of opening up again the horizon of which the Outside Phenomenon is the denunciation in act?
