Le travail social a beaucoup évolué suite à la décentralisation et aux objectifs actuels de l’action sociale. Il est passé d’une notion d’aide et de conseil à une notion d’accompagnement. « Les orientations principales sur le travail social » de Nicole Questiaux en mai 1982 marquent bien ce virage où le « bénéficiaire » devient un acteur. Ces orientations humanistes semblent remises en cause par les perspectives étroitement managériales actuelles. Nous pensons qu’elles sont seules efficaces pour faire émerger un monde nouveau et plus humain.

Social work today: fears and hopes?Social work has considerably changed since decentralization and the introduction of new objectives. The idea of help and counselling has been replaced by that of accompaniment. The text by Nicole Questiaux is representative of this change and shows how the service beneficiary becomes an agent of change him or herself. These humanistic orientations seem to be challenged today by a narrow managerial view. The author believes nevertheless that they are the only efficient ways of bringing forward a new more human world.
