En Palestine mandataire le conflit entre les communautés juives, connues sous le nom du Yishouv, et l’Empire britannique caractérise les années entourant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, alors que les deux institutions travaillent en étroite coopération pendant le conflit. Cet article examine les motivations tant des groupes paramilitaires du Yishouv que de leurs membres pour comprendre le début de la coopération, sa continuation et sa fin. Haganah and British imperial forces during the Second World WarIn the former Palestine mandate territory, conflict between the Jewish communities known as the Yishuv and the British Empire bookended the violence of the Second World War. During the War, the two populations closely cooperated. This paper explores the motivations of the paramilitary groups of the Yishuv and their members to understand the beginning of cooperation, its continuation, and its end – all of which unfolded during the Second World War. It highlights the importance of Yishuv structures as well as the historical experiences of its members.
