À rebours d’un discours pessimiste sur la prétendue crise des sciences sociales, les deux chercheur·e·s nous rappellent ici l’importance du travail de description et d’explication du monde social, tel qu’il se déploie au sein des collectifs scientifiques.

For this anniversary issue of terrains & travaux, Élisabeth Claverie and Nicolas Dodier share their vision of the social sciences based on their respective backgrounds and fields of research: anthropology of apparitions and violence for Élisabeth Claverie, sociology of expertise and victim reparation dispositifs for Nicolas Dodier. Contrary to a pessimistic discourse on the alleged crisis in the social sciences, the two researchers remind us here of the importance of the work of description and explanation of the social world, as it unfolds within scientific collectives.
