Derrière les promesses d’autonomie et de revalorisation professionnelle, le modèle Humani semble davantage s’attacher à accroître la responsabilisation des auxiliaires au détriment de la question des conditions de travail.Abrégé : Based on the case study of a home care start-up, the paper explores the way in which new players in this field of the social and solidarity economy take up the issue of revalorizing caring professions to build their market strategy. This “social enterprise” is working on redefining the activity of home care in terms of “humanization”. In opposition to the dominant industrial paradigm, the start-up uses a relational and vocational definition of work to rethink professionalism. This provides a support for its founder to develop a professional training offer and to promote innovations related to work organization and the evaluation of senior care services. The entrepreneurial project of transforming the representations and practices of this sector appears deeply ambivalent. Behind the promises of autonomy and professional upgrading, the Humani model seems to be more concerned with increasing the responsibility of the care workers instead of improving their working conditions.
