Partant du constat selon lequel les phénomènes de terrorisme et de guerre, réactivent une attraction et un effroi qui semblent émerger d’un temps et d’un espace plus « archaïque », cet article traite de cette notion d’archaïque en essayant d’en comprendre la réalité et les effets tant du point de vue de la constitution de la psyché que de celle de l’espace social. Ce travail tend à mettre en évidence l’existence de fonctionnements pervers de type masochiste ou sadique s’organisant selon des modalités mélancolique ou paranoïaque, tant à un niveau individuel qu’au niveau social. Du traitement possible de ces composantes perverses dépend la victoire de l’archaïque en termes de solipsisme ou bien d’altérité qui en sont les deux composantes contradictoires.

Victories of the ‘Archaic’? If we take as our starting point the observation that phenomena such as terrorism and war reactivate both a coupled attraction-fright effect that seem to come surging back from some ‘archaic’time-space continuum, this article deals with the notion of the ‘archaic’by attempting to understand the reality and effects of this force from both the point of view of the constitution of the psyche and that of our social realm. This allows us to shed light on the existence of perverse functions like masochism or sadism, structured on a melancholic or paranoiac basis, at both the individual and the wider social level. The possibilities we can exploit for treating these perversities depend entirely on the archaic triumphing in the fields of solipsism and otherness, the two contradictory factors that are central to its composition.
