Le discours de Bush contre “l’Axe du Mal” incarné par le terrorisme international est calqué sur celui de Truman de mars 1947 qui, pour porter assistance à la Grèce en proie à une insurrection communiste, annonçait l’entrée en guerre de l’Amérique contre la “subversion communiste”. L’anthropologie politique étudie les représentations “archétypiques”, produits d’imaginaires collectifs, qui influencent la perception des événements. Proet anti-américanisme,relation à la violenceet à l’ordre, distinguent les grandes familles idéologiques. Le propos de cet article est d’analyser comment la presse de 1947-1949 et d’aujourd’huiperçoivent à la fois la “subversion terroriste” etla réaction américaine à cette violence, afin de mettreà jour des archétypes spécifiques à la pensée de droiteet de gauche.

America, Israel, Greece and the French Press from 1947 to 2002 George W. Bush’s speech against the ‘Axis of Evil’embodied by international terrorism is based on that made by Truman in March 1947, which, to help Greece that had fallen prey to a communist insurrection, heralded the beginning of America’s war against ‘communist subversion.’Political anthropology studies the ‘archetypal’representations produced by the collective imagination, which influence our perception of events. Pro and anti-Americanism, the relation with violence and order are the distinguishing features of the main ideological groups. This article aims at analysing how the Press between 1947 and 1949 and the Press today perceive this ‘terrorist subversion’along with theAmerican response to this violence, in order to shed light on the specific archetypes of rightwing and left-wing thinking.archétypes spécifiques à la pensée de droite et de gauche.
