La violence organisée, telle qu’elle se déploie dans la guerre, s’oppose t’elle à l’ordre sclérosé pour créer l’équilibre des contraires sur lequel se fonde l’harmonie? Est -elle un phénomène «juste» selon l’ordre de la Nature ou bien une regrettable exception? La liaison entre la question du Juste et celle de la guerre va bien au-delà de savoir s’il existe des critères qui permettraient de décréter que telle ou telle guerre est ou non juste tant dans ses motifs que dans la manière dont elle se mène.

Is War a Natural Phenomenon? Can the organised violence we observe in war be seen as a means of effacing the fossilised order of a given society to replace it with a balance between opposites from which harmony can then spring? Is war a ‘just’phenomenon within Nature’s order or is it a regrettable exception? The link between the notion of what is ‘Just’and the notion of war goes far beyond our wondering whether we might establish a list of criteria for determining whether such or such a war is just or not, depending on what caused it and the way in which a war was carried out.
