This sheds light on the tension established between the intra-psychic object and the ‘outside’ object and shows how a symbolic current circulates between the two. The work of Rodin and Picasso illustrates how a work of sculpture becomes ‘incarnate’, how the subjective body is the basis of all ‘plastic figuration.’ ‘Tactile figurations’ and the ‘extension of psychic apparatus’prepare for an exploration of the notion of psychic plasticity, already prepared for in Freud’s thinking but defined here by the author as an essential keystone of contemporary psychoanalysis.
