Le genre du cinéma qui explore les aléas de la psychanalyse a quelque chose de l’analyse didactique. Le mécanisme de réminiscences refoulées s’apparente à la technique de « flash-back », et la narration non-linéaire aux multiples canaux de caméra. La sexualité dans les films autour de la psychanalyse met en scène non seulement le monde physique, mais aussi celui verbal, de la parole – écrite, lue, orale. La circulation de « la cure par parole » entre Freud, Jung et la jeune Sabina Spielrein est d’abord mise en une sorte de la camera obscura (Christopher Hampton, The Talking Cure, pièce de théâtre, 2003), puis filmée, décryptée et magnifiée par les images dans le film en costumes de l’époque de David Cronenberg, A Dangereous Method, en 2011.

Films which explore the ups and downs of psychoanalysis have something of the didactic analysis about them. The mechanisms of repressed memories are rather similar to the ‘flash-back’ technique, and the non-linear narration reminds us of the multiple angles of the camera. In films portraying psychoanalysis, sexuality is staged not only in its physical dimension, but also in its relation to the world of speech and words, be they written, read or orally communicated. The circulation of the ‘talking cure’ between Freud, Jung and the young Sabina Spielrein was first portrayed as in a camera obscura in Christopher Hampton’s play The Talking Cure (2003), and then deciphered and magnified through the images of the costume drama filmed by David Cronenberg, A Dangerous Method, in 2011.
