<br/><br/> RésuméZinédine Zidane, capitaine de l’équipe de France de football, est l’un des sportifs les plus appréciés par les adolescents. À travers le cadre théorique de Gaston Bachelard, l’auteur montre que son image renvoie le spectateur à des rêveries inconscientes qui influencent la réception du spectacle sportif. Dans cet article, les archétypes et symboles qui travaillent l’imagination du spectateur/rêveur éveillé dans le spectacle du sport ont été mis en évidence en interrogeant un échantillon de 878 collégiens et lycéens de la région Provence-Alpes. Les résultats montrent que Zinédine Zidane est symboliquement associé aux images archétypales de la Terre et du Feu. Cette association est due :à ses origines culturelles et sociales ;à sa pratique du football ;à sa personnalité, sur le terrain et en dehors.  Zinédine Zidane is one of the most well-known and popular sportsmen among adolescents. This article, using the philosophical research framework shaped by Gaston Bachelard, analyzes some of the values associated by spectators with the leader of the French national soccer team. The essence of the champion’s image was elicited by questioning 878 adolescents in the region of Provence (France) about the archetypes and symbols which appear in their imagination. Results show that Zinedine Zidane is associated with the archetypal images of earth and fire. Such association is due to :his social and cultural roots ;his practice of soccer ;his personality in the stadium and outside.
