N2  - Résumé Freud est le contemporain des frères Lumière. Mais il n’a rien à faire de leur invention, qui change pourtant la face du siècle. Le cinéma n’est guère, écrit-il, qu’un spectacle pour grands enfants : un tour de magie pour subjuguer la foule. Freud est cinéphobe et cinéfuge : il fuit tout contact avec l’art du film, Pabst inclus, qui lui semble un tissu de balivernes ( dumme Dinge). C’est qu’il lui faut nier le cinéma, qui est le contraire (le concurrent) du rêve, étant une image nouvelle – image- pensée – où l’œil, dit Deleuze, devient écran, voire cerveau…; Freud is a contemporary of the Lumière brothers. But he has nothing to do with their invention, which changes, however, the face of the century. The cinema, he writes, is no more than a spectacle for big children : a magic trick to subjugate the crowd. Freud is a cinephobic and a cinefugal : he flees all contact with the art of film, Pabst included, which he finds a load of nonsense (dumme Dinge ). He must deny the cinema, which is the opposite of (the rival to) dreams, being a new image – an image-thought – where the eye, Deleuze says, becomes the screen, even the mind…
