The French state’s role in spatial EuropeSpace is in the throes of change. More than ever, the state must play a major role in four basic ways : its autonomy and capacity for ensuring essential governmental functions ; its support for industry both up- and downstream in the production process ; legislative and regulatory controls ; and sciences and exploration.
