N1 - 28 N2 - This paper focuses on the paradox of a world-wide Internet confronted with national borders. The research is based on the observation of a difference in the organization of the network in Belgium and in France, and on the context of the existence of an urban continuum on both sides of the Franco-Belgian border. Indeed, the border exists within the network: although it is transparent for the users, it however forms a barrier on different levels (technical, economical, political and administrative).
