The Bayeux glossary by the canon Le Lièvre

In 1893, the canon Anatole Le Lièvre published a glossary of the Bayeux dialect that has remained little known and is absent from dialectologists’ bibliographies. The recent discovery of this glossary’s manuscripts makes it possible to evaluate the lexicographical work carried out at the time of its publication and to see what corrections the author may have made to his work, sometimes mistakenly, by consulting older glossaries. Comparing this glossary with those of Charles Joret and Frédéric Pluquet shows that it is a valid source for studying the Bayeux dialect.
