<br/><br/> While in France attacking the honour of political figures is considered more serious than attacking the honour of ordinary citizens, the opposite is true in the United States. However, under the influence of the European Court of Human Rights, French Law has broadened the scope of what can be said in order to protect the free circulation of facts and ideas as well as the democratic debate.
