<br/><br/> Due to respectively widowhood and separation, Marie Anne Élisabeth de Maizières and her daughter Victoire Césarine de Clermont-Tonnerre ended up having to manage the estate of Brugny, in Champagne. From 1780 to 1835, with the help of close relatives and a steward but making sure to always have the final say, they devoted themselves to the improvement of the estate, confronting the difficulties associated with farming out land, and experiencing the realities of a balanced budget.
