Slow Tourism Strategies for French Regions - 2025.

The emergence of the slow movement raises the question of how to develop a tourism offer that aligns with ‘slow’ values. Territorial entities need to cultivate the skills, competencies and resources necessary to formulate a tourism strategy that not only reflects but also promotes these values. Here we examine regional-scale slow tourism strategies and find that there is substantial investment in ‘soft mobility’ paths yet a conspicuous absence of investment in the core competency of coordinating local actors.
