N2  - In this interview conducted by historian Daniel Moulinet, biologist Jean-Marie Exbrayat looks back on his academic career and scientific training. He also traces the developments of Catholic Faculty of Science, where he served as dean between 1999 and 2005. Initially focused on biology, chemistry, and geology, the research gradually diversified to include epistemological questions that promote interdisciplinarity. The growth of collaborations with French public universities and foreign institutions has increased UCLy’s visibility, as did the creation of schools such as ESTBB, IFTLM, and ESQESE, all affiliated with the science center. Philosophical and spiritual issues were also given considerable attention. Il retrace en parallèle les évolutions de la faculté catholique des sciences de Lyon, dont il fut le doyen entre 1999 et 2005. D’abord orientée vers la biologie, la chimie et la géologie, la recherche s’est progressivement diversifiée au point d’aborder des questions épistémologiques favorisant l’interdisciplinarité. La multiplication des collaborations avec des universités publiques françaises et des établissements étrangers va permettre à l’UCLy de gagner en visibilité, tout comme la création d’écoles comme l’ESTBB, l’IFTLM ou l’ESQESE, toutes trois rattachées au pôle des sciences.
