TY - BOOK AU - Chapaux-Morelli,Pascale TI - Translating in the mediterranean: the part of the unconscious PY - 2025///. N1 - 13 N2 - Around the Mediterranean, and based on the very etymology of the word, languages echo each other from one shore to the other, constantly crossing this sea in the middle of the lands. It is a multitude of differences that nevertheless recognize each other in a common matrix. However, language, an instrument of communication, is also the support of a thought, its vector, its ambassador. Languages draw a map, trace contours, speak beyond signifiers. In the Mediterranean, the act of translation inevitably sails on this rich magma, it becomes the hyphen that brings together and at the same time underlines the differences. Here is our elsewhere, and more than ever the restitution in another language proves to be an “other” language, and the unconscious inevitably gets involved. No speaker, no translator can do without their subjectivity, their cultural baggage. Translation carries this richness within it. We thus raise the question of linguistic crossbreeding in the Mediterranean and the part of the unconscious in translation, then the phenomenon of untranslatability in Mediterranean languages UR - https://shs.cairn.info/journal-cliniques-mediterraneennes-2025-2-page-127?lang=en&redirect-ssocas=7080 ER -
