This article illustrates the significant modifications and reorganizations of psychic and bodily envelopes during the process of “becoming a mother” for a primiparous woman. The Rorschach is a particularly relevant tool for visualizing all types of psychic and bodily changes during life events, including those relating to motherhood. Our study focuses on primiparous women first encountered during their initial antenatal consultation in the maternity department. The population is devoid of obstetrical risks and without a proven history of psychiatric disorders. The results of this research focus on a longitudinal observation of the Rorschach test presented to a thirty-year-old woman at four different moments during the ante and postnatal periods. Longitudinal observation and analysis of Rorschach responses show significant changes in psychic life. This case reveals that motherhood indeed provokes large-scale bodily and psychic changes.
