Assessing the “Vitality” of an Innovative Christian Place: the Case of the Sainte-Julienne de Cornillon Shrine

<br/><br/> The evaluation of ecclesial experiences is a key issue for discerning the fruitfulness of missionary initiatives. This article examines the use of the evaluation tool developed by the Zentrum für angewandte Pastoralforschung (ZAP) at the University of Bochum, applying it to the Sainte-Julienne de Cornillon Sanctuary (Liège). Based on four criteria of ecclesial vitality, the tool offers a rich analysis, addressing aspects such as stakeholder responsibility and contextual adaptation. The study also highlights certain limitations of the tool, opening avenues for a more fruitful dialogue between pastoral evaluation and theological reflection.
