N2  - When the French Expeditionary Corps regained control of South Viêt Nam in 1945, the situation there was highly complicated. Right after the war, France lacked the resources for a distant conflict. Everything was in short supply: equipment, materials and especially men. Thus, it was necessary to salvage, to adapt to the nature of the theater of operations and the type of combat (guerilla warfare and revolutionary war), to recruit local people and finally innovate. These experiences in Cochinchina were later applied to other war zones as they were brought back under control?
