<br/><br/> Roman Ingarden remains little known to French literary theorists, yet his philosophical work in fact contains a comprehensive theory of the literary phenomenon—encompassing the work itself, its reception, and its critique. His phenomenological approach even offers valuable insights into certain trends in the most contemporary literary theory (concerning possible texts or “ghost texts”) and opens up numerous avenues for reflection (notably on modes).
