<br/><br/> Résumé L’affiliation de David (1748-1825) à la cause jacobine est indiscutable. Mais l’histoire passe et David se mettra au service du césarisme et de sa totémisation. La scène du Saint-Bernard (1800-1801) est celle d’un « impératif catégorique » incarné. Nous suivrons ce procès jusqu’au portrait du tyran au bureau (1811-1812) comme Moïse et totem d’un nouveau monothéisme : celui de l’administration panoptique.  David’s affiliation to the Jacobine cause is unquestionable. But as time passed, David ended up serving Caesarism and its totemisation. His Saint Bernard (1800-1801) embodies a categorical imperative. We shall follow this process up to his portrait of the tyrant in his office (1811-1812) drawn as a Moses and Totem of the new monotheism of a panoptical administration.
