N2  - Une statuette de bronze provenant du Levant et conservée au musée du Louvre a été considérée jadis comme figurant un guerrier parthe. Elle doit plutôt être interprétée comme une représentation, à l’époque impériale romaine, du dieu syrien Jupiter Dolichénien. C’est un fragment probablement ancien d’ex‑voto ( i er s. apr. J.‑C.). À l’origine, le dieu, qui brandissait une hache bipenne dans la main droite, était juché sur le dos d’un taureau; A bronze statuette made in the Levant and housed today in the Louvre, was once considered to be the image of a Parthian warrior. It should be recognized as being the Syrian god Iupiter Dolichenus, of the Roman imperial period. It is a fragment of a probably early ( 1 st Cent. ad) ex‑voto.
