N2  - Dans la Lettre à Anébon, Porphyre attache une importance particulière à la question de savoir si les prières peuvent persuader (πείθειν) les dieux et exercer une contrainte (ἀνάγκη) sur eux, en influençant ainsi leurs décisions. L’article met en évidence son arrière-plan platonicien et le rôle de Plotin dans sa fortune néoplatonicienne. Il étudie également la réaction critique de Jamblique à cette question, dans sa Réponse à Porphyre ( De mysteriis), en examinant son fondement doctrinal, ainsi que ses affinités avec la perspective stoïcienne sur la prière; In the Letter to Anebo, Porphyry attaches particular importance to determining whether prayers can persuade (πείθειν) gods and coerce (ἀνάγκη) on them, thus influencing their decisions. The article highlights the Platonic background of this very question and Plotinus’ role in its Neoplatonic reception. It also examines Iamblichus’ critical reaction to the same question in De mysteriis, examining its doctrinal basis and its affinities with the Stoic perspective on prayer
