N2  - Dans ses romans comme dans ses écrits de combat, Bernanos disqualifie nos façons de penser, de panser la pauvreté. Il ne nous incite pas à soulager les pauvres, encore moins à les enrichir, ce qui serait intégrer ces irréductibles à un monde qu’ils contestent par leur seule existence. En appelant à honorer le pauvre, c’est bien un autre monde qu’il promeut. Un monde qui défie la primauté de l’argent ; un monde que l’Église aurait dû préfigurer, mais dont l’écrivain en révolte confie les destinées « aux mains des nations pauvres »; In his novels as in his écrits de combat, Bernanos discredits our ways of thinking, -of covering up poverty. He does not encourage us to relieve the poor, still less to enrich them ; that would be to integrate these intractable people into a world which they challenge by their sole existence. By calling us to honour the poor, it is another world which he is promoting. This is a world which defies the primacy of money ; it is a world which the Church should have prefigured but whose destiny the writer, in rebellion, entrusts “into the hands of poor nations”
