<br/><br/> Dans un environnement caractérisé par une concurrence mondiale fondée sur la nouveauté, une économie de la connaissance valorisant les actifs immatériels, une pression constante sur les coûts et une incertitude croissante sur l’évolution du marché, le management de la propriété intellectuelle est devenu un élément clef de l’avantage concurrentiel. Cet article s’inscrit dans ce contexte d’utilisation intensive des DPI et de leur management. Son objectif est de montrer comment, à travers les différentes fonctions du brevet, la gestion des connaissances en matière de propriété intellectuelle peut être articulée tout au long de la « chaine de valeur brevet ».Codes JEL : L20, O32  Roles of Patents and Knowledge Articulation : An Analysis by the Value ChainIn an environment characterized by a competition based on novelty, a knowledge-based economy valuing intangible assets, a constant pressure on costs and an increasing uncertainty, the management of intellectual property has become a key element of the competitive advantage. The issue of Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) is increasingly important in the business sphere and in academic literature. This article refers to this context of intensive use of the Intellectual Property Rights. It aims at outlining how knowledge can be articulated along the “patent value chain”. The various roles of patent are presented along this value chain in order to understand how firms can both create and capture value through the management of IPRs.JEL Codes : L20, O32
