N1 - 83 N2 - The aim of this article is to gain a better understanding of the concept of CSR in African SMEs, particularly in Senegal. To this end, we conducted eleven semi-structured interviews with entrepreneurs. The results obtained from a manual thematic analysis reveal that CSR is part of a social and solidarity-based dimension. Indeed, these entrepreneurs define it as an opportunity to support people on low incomes in order to alleviate their difficulties, particularly during religious or cultural festivals. Education, key events in the entrepreneur’s life, and degree of involvement in society influence CSR practices within these SMEs. Employee well-being is also an incentive for these entrepreneurs to adopt CSR strategies, such as in-kind benefits, protective equipment, and flexible working hours UR - https://shs.cairn.info/revue-management-sciences-sociales-2025-3-page-21?lang=en&redirect-ssocas=7080 ER -
