N1 - 25 N2 - ‪There was considerable protest between 2010 and 2012 from citizens in Quebec (Canada) over shale gas fracking. This was accompanied by the mobilization of certain agricultural actors in public fora and government bodies. The goal of this article is to highlight how certain agricultural actors can shift their interactions beyond sectoral interests to converge with other movements with different demands – or what could be symbolized as a shift from individualized “land-owning farmers” to more collectively-minded “citizen-farmers.” Such cooperation can help foster public interest at the level of a territorial community which comes to impose itself – often through conflict – as a variable with which to contend in processes of governance.‪ UR - https://shs.cairn.info/journal-etudes-rurales-2018-1-page-26?lang=en ER -
