N2  - RésuméLes traductions des écrits de Thérèse, en Extrême-Orient (japonais) et au Proche-Orient (arabe) se font dans deux contextes missionnaires différents. Au japon, la traduction précoce de l’Histoire d’une âme (1911) s’insère dans une volonté d’implantation du catholicisme qui aboutit à l’érection d’églises sous le vocable de la nouvelle sainte et à l’ouverture plus tardive du premier carmel (1933). Au Proche-Orient, la diversité des intervenants dans la traduction des ouvrages thérésiens, de 1912 à 1936, rend compte de la pluralité des acteurs et identifie ceux qui jouent, sur ce terrain, un rôle de premier plan, carmes et jésuites principalement; Translating Teresa from the Japanese Far East to the Arabic Near EastThe translations of the writings of Teresa into Japanese in the Far East and Arabic in the Near East were carried out in two different missionary contexts. In Japan, the rapid translation of “The Story of a Soul” was in the context of the desire to implant Catholicism ; it resulted in the building of churches dedicated to the new saint and the eventual opening of the first Carmel (1933). In the Near East, the diversity of translators of the writings on Teresa between 1912 and 1936 testifies to the principal persons involved in that area, mainly Carmelites and Jesuits
