They are marginalized due to institutional inertia, economic constraints, and a fixed perception that confines them to a passive role. Yet they possess an unexpected strength: They are the golden thread that weaves memory, providing a silent yet fundamental foundation. Like stars obscured by time, they shine without being fully recognized, waiting to illuminate those who wish to explore their depths. This neglect is not inevitable. Rethinking the role of archives means recognizing that they are not just about preserving the past, but also shaping the future. To enhance the value of archives, a paradigm shift is required: Their dynamism must be recognized, they must be fully integrated into documentary strategies, and they must be offered an active role at the heart of modern information systems; Loin d’être de simples vestiges du passé, les archives recèlent un potentiel stratégique souvent ignoré. Leur marginalisation résulte d’une inertie institutionnelle, de contraintes économiques et d’une perception figée qui les cantonne à un rôle passif. Elles possèdent pourtant une force insoupçonnée : elles sont le fil d’or qui tisse la mémoire, un socle silencieux, mais fondamental. Telles des étoiles occultées par le temps, elles brillent sans être pleinement reconnues, prêtes à éclairer ceux qui souhaitent explorer leur profondeur. Cette mise à l’écart n’est pas une fatalité.
