The customization of products for persons with disabilities: An ethical and sustainable practice?
- 2022.

Equipment purchased for persons with disabilities, which is rarely desired, generally has to be customized. However, considered by many researchers as positive for customers, companies, and for the environment, this practice is questioned here. Our research aims to analyze the impact of the customization of products for persons with disabilities through the prism of sustainability and ethics. A qualitative study carried out with persons with disabilities highlights the fact that the customization of products does not seem to be linked to ideas related to ethics and sustainability, thus calling into question much research. From a managerial standpoint, it seems important to better combine the interests of customers with disabilities and the ethical-ecological values of the products with commercial goals.
