Age and long-term cognitive behavioral disorders related to moderate and severe traumatic brain injury: A review
- 2022.

Traumatic brain injuries (TBI) result in cognitive and behavioral impairment, meaning that victims and their families must cope with a disability that affects their social, professional, and emotional life. Many studies have described how the consequences of a TBI evolve over the first few months (up to two years after), but few studies have focused on the impact of these impairments as the patient grows older. The evolution of these consequences seems to be affected by endogenous factors such as gender, age, and ApOE4, and exogenous factors such as social interactions. Some studies suggest that TBI is a risk factor for developing a neurodegenerative disease.
