This text examines the historical evolution of scientific research models, from Enlightenment-based fundamental research to contemporary participatory research. Each period addresses specific societal challenges: understanding the world, solving problems, technological innovation, or social transformation. In response to current ecological and democratic crises, it argues for a scientific continuum based on the complementarity of knowledge, integrating citizens and researchers to build sustainable and just solutions.
