Genesis of the déprise
- 2018.

Thirty years after the first mention of déprise in the sociology of ageing, this viewpoint revisits the history of the notion, which can be divided into four phases: first, that of invention, made of the link and distance with “disengagement theory”; second, that of probation by the survey on the initiatives employed by towns for ageing people, which makes it possible to clarify the notion within the framework of the relations with the existence of the people concerned; third, a return to the theories of ageing to refine the interest of continuing on this original path; and finally, its extension in the field of the sociology of ageing by its adoption by other researchers. We also note that this sociological work has been discussed within the broader set of gerontologists.
