Études locales (Local Studies) is the name of a monthly magazine published between 1920 and 1949 at the initiative and under the direction of the Chief Education Officer for the Charente, Jean Talbert. Études locales published documents, book excerpts and articles relating to the Charente and its history, geography, artistic heritage, tradition, etc. The contributors were mainly primary school teachers in the Charente département. The Journal was both scholarly and educational. Its founder, Jean Talbert, wanted to make it a tool for primary education and consequently the journal played an important role in initial and continuous training for primary school teachers in the Charente.
