Re-politicizing ontological, cosmological and animistic questions - 2023.

‪In this interview, Nastassja Martin reflects on her field experiences focusing on the Gwich’in in Alaska and the Even in Kamchatka. She traces the path that led her to integrate the impacts of colonial and environmental management policies, the capitalist economy and climate change into her work on ontological, cosmological and animistic issues. Noting that in the face of climatic metamorphoses, indigenous responses have nothing in common with ours, she observes that while creation is thought of as intentional among us, on the contrary, the creation myths of these peoples always tell stories of accidental encounters. A way of opening up possibilities in the face of our very objective approach to thinking about geophysical flows.‪
