<br/><br/> Regarding the analysis of a dream, the author underlines the difference between listening empathically, necessary for the containing function of the infantile during therapy and the working through of counter-transference. The question of empathy leads the author to examine if the analyst applies a conscious knowledge to the analysand’s material or if this conscious knowledge is derived from the unconscious assimilation of these material.
