Every society has by definition something to say about violence, if only by organizing it within its way of functioning. In light of this, we present an example from a West African society, the Lobi society of Burkina Faso, which should allow us to better understand how violence and different conceptions of the relationship with death are the subject of precise codification. This example allows us to approach new forms of violence linked to jihadist radicalization from another perspective.
