The article puts forward and develops the idea of an unconditional basic minimum income with three standpoints in view. In order to give people greater independence to pursue three kinds of economic activity: ° There must be paid employment by which society has to live. Each of us has to get his or her hands dirty! Employment generates the social bond, marketable and non-marketable products, innovation and progress. ° Work in the field of care – education and childcare, elderly care, domestic work. ° Finally - and it is here that the basic income takes on its full meaning – we need to provide the means for everyone to pursue activities of every kind according to their own free choices. In order to promote changes of direction, both by individuals (career change, in private life) and by groups (social and ecological transitions). In order to modernize and strengthen welfare provision.
