<br/><br/> This article offers an examination of the development of critical thinking in contemporary dance, by focusing on the diversity of its manifestations and practices. Shedding light on the imaginaries linked to today’s dances enable the fundamental role of the spectator’s gaze in the empathic understanding of dance gestures to be experienced. Conversely, the emergence of discursive or conceptual dances leads us to reconsider the heuristic and aesthetic value of artists’ discourses.
